Join us as we celebrate the early positive results of the ‘BIG on STEM’’ program—an innovative partnership between Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada and Cenovus Energy, designed to ignite passion for STEM among youth across Canada. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our effort to empower youth through STEM education and community engagement.
From our summer events to the engaging discussions they spurred, here are some encouraging numbers demonstrating the positive impact for youth of our partnership so far:
- 93% indicated participating in BIG on STEM was a worthwhile experience
- 80% indicated participating in BIG on STEM helped provided a sense of support to navigate educational opportunities related to the field of STEM
- 94% indicated participating in BIG on STEM maintained or increased their interest in education or career related to STEM
- 90% indicated participating in BIG on STEM maintained or increased their believe that education or a career in STEM is accessible to them
- 87% indicated that they would recommend participating in BIG on STEM
A Partnership for the Future
Addressing the critical shortage of youth in STEM, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada and Cenovus are sparking excitement and curiosity among young minds. Dynamic partnerships like these are critical in creating lasting social impact in the lives of the youth Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada supports. BIG on STEM is set to connect over 200 Big Brothers Big Sisters youth with STEM professionals annually, unveiling a world of possibilities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Aligning with Cenovus’s commitment to develop future-ready youth, this initiative aims to build awareness of STEM careers and open new pathways for success.
Transforming Communities, Inspiring Futures
BIG on STEM is reshaping futures by removing educational barriers and sparking a passion for STEM among equity-deserving youth. Our partnership is particularly powerful this year as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada is expanding community efforts and magnifying engagement with three of Cenovus’s Canadian office locations in Lloydminster, Calgary, and St. John’s. In these locations – and across Canada – we’ll work to empower the next generation with the skills and confidence to succeed in tomorrow’s world.
