Make Life Bigger

A conversation. A shared experience. A new perspective. Someone who takes the time to listen.

For a young person, moments like these can help build confidence, create connection and open the door to new possibilities.

That’s the power of mentorship.

This September, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada is celebrating Big Brothers Big Sisters Month and inviting Canadians to Make Life Bigger through mentorship.

Mentorship creates room for what’s possible

Growing up is full of new experiences. There are successes to celebrate, challenges to work through and moments when having someone to talk to can make all the difference.

A mentor creates space for those experiences.

Together, a mentor and mentee might discover a new hobby, explore an interest, work toward a goal or simply spend time doing something they enjoy. There’s no script for a mentoring relationship. It grows through sharing experiences and spending time together.

And while every match is different, the mission remains the same: to enable life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people.

The difference adds up

The impact of mentorship isn’t measured by one conversation or one afternoon together, it continues to build over time.

This year, Big Brothers Big Sisters positively impacted the lives of over 31,000 young people across Canada, creating opportunities for connection in communities from coast to coast to coast.

And young people are telling us those relationships matter:

Behind every percentage is a relationship. Two people creating experiences that can stay with them long after the moment has passed.

Be part of something bigger

Big Brothers Big Sisters Month is a celebration of everyone who helps make mentorship possible, from mentors and volunteers to families, staff, donors and community partners.

This September, we’re inviting more Canadians to be part of that community.

If you are 18 year of age or older, becoming a mentor is one way Make Life Bigger for a young person. You can also get involved by donating, volunteering, advocating, or sharing the opportunity with someone who could be a great mentor.

There’s no single way to Make Life Bigger.
There’s just the place to start.
