Mentorship Equals Lasting Impact

Mentorship = growth, confidence, identity and possibility for thousands of youth from coast to coast to coast.

At a time of year that’s all about giving back, we’re sharing how your support of Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada is providing young people with stable and caring relationships whose benefits = lasting impact.

MENTORSHIP = GROWING THROUGH ADVERSITY

Mentorship helps children make positive choices and channel their resilience. It nurtures potential and fosters growth. These are critical needs for the young people who find us, because 91% of them are experiencing some forms of adversity with the potential to negatively affect their wellbeing and have lasting consequences.1

Our goal is to step in before it’s too late. Last year, more than 32,000 children—some as young as 7—benefited from developmental relationships nurtured by over 17,500 of our trained volunteers. We’re proud of that, and of its positive impact.

Our data shows that youth participating in our mentoring programs are:

60%

more likely to report feeling consistently happy.2

45%

more likely to report feeling consistently confident. 2

50%

more likely to have a robust social network. 2

Our mentored youth report:

THE NEED: REACH MORE YOUNG PEOPLE, FASTER

Even though there is resounding evidence that our mentoring programs are effective, we know we’re not reaching everyone who needs them.

Even though 23% more youth accessed our mentoring programs between 2022 and 2023, there are about 10,000 young people on our wait lists across the country.

That’s why we’re calling on this community to give back this holiday season. Your donation will help us reach more young people faster. It means we can recruit and train more adult volunteers and match them with the young people on our wait lists, so they can get the support they need.

Your gift today can unlock the power of mentorship and all that it equals for a young person who really needs it.

Thank you in advance for your support and the ripple effect it will have for so many.
