For over 110 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada (BBBSC) has been championing the health and wellbeing of young people across the country by supporting 80+ member agencies in a united Federation. The BBBSC national office provides the Federation with support, resources, and guidance, including a national quality assurance program, pan-Canadian mentoring programs, centralized data-collection, shared technology infrastructure, and national fundraising and advocacy campaigns. Together, we mobilize thousands of volunteers who mentor 33,000 children in life-changing relationships that ignite the power and potential of young people.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
We are looking for a leader who thrives on working with diverse stakeholders to support federation-wide change. The role requires a data-driven leader who is an empathetic listener and a creative thinker with a record of project completion and long-term success. This is a salaried position that reports to the President and CEO and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The Vice-President Strategy is responsible for:
Strategic Plan Development and Monitoring
2026 will be an exciting year of creating the next Strategic Plan for BBBSC. Working closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, SLT and network of Agencies, the VP Strategy will co-create a multi-year strategic plan with the goal that that every child in Canada that needs mentoring services can access them.
Program and Operating Model Evolution
BBBSC is evaluating our programs and service delivery model to determine what will best serve the children that access our mentoring programs. The VP Strategy will lead this work, including developing a current state analysis and a case for change including rationale, costs and implementation plans.
Network Development
The VP Strategy will oversee BBBSC’s Network Development services to ensure that Agencies have the support that they need to thrive, grow and demonstrate measurable outcomes. This includes evolving our performance data collection, analysis, and dashboard capabilities in order to provide advisory services to members. It will also include enhanced learning and development options and resources.
Transformation Project Management and Cross Functional Alignment
The VP Strategy will develop BBBSC’s capacity to project-manage major business integration projects which includes developing internal teams, leveraging BBBSC’s agencies and national teams in network development, IT, operations, communications and resource mobilization capacity to align efforts in support of major initiatives.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL
Strategic oversight: Departmental accountability for achieving goals and strategies and over-arching organizational performance.
- Strategic Planning: Accountability for definition and implementation of goals, objectives and strategies related to the portfolio. Creates, executes and reports on project plans. Monitors and present on execution and achievements.
- Financial budget: Sets annual budget and has departmental budget approval authority.
- Human Resources: Manages direct reports, including work and performance planning and contributes to overall workplace culture.
- Governance: Direct participation in BBBSC governance through Board Meetings and committee meetings.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
In addition to being a team player and analytical thinker, the successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
- A university degree in a related field, from a recognized academic institution, with graduate studies an asset.
- Outstanding organizational, leadership, stakeholder engagement, interpersonal and public speaking abilities.
- Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
- Excellent business acumen and exemplary work ethic.
- Demonstrable competency in strategy, business analysis and case development.
- Experience in shared solution design and business case development
- Strong strategic planning and project management.
- Demonstrated experience working in a dynamic, collaborative and bi-lingual stakeholder environment
- High level of knowledge of MS Office and other current software applications focused on effective project management and administration.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders and a commitment to equity and youth empowerment.
- Bilingualism (oral and written English and French) is an asset.
