On January 20 and 21, 2021, RBC hosted the Big Chat Challenge, two fun and informative virtual events for Big Brothers Big Sisters youth across Canada. The RBC Big Chat Challenge had over 250 participants and was an incredible opportunity to:
- connect Big Brothers Big Sisters youth from across the nation
- to celebrate Mentoring Month
- to be inspired by RBC Olympians during these challenging times
- to gain some valuable tips around goal setting, money life hacks and more,
- and to have fun and challenge ourselves to launch futures and ignite potential
This event was recently followed by a unique “Flash Mentoring” opportunity where Big Brothers Big Sisters youth met with RBC Career Launch Associates to discuss career aspirations, post-secondary goals or employment readiness tips, empowering them for success!
“The opportunity to offer personalized support and guidance to youth grew my appreciation for mentorships,” said Karen Walker, RBC Career Launch Associate. “By referencing my career and post-secondary experience I was able to help youth put their best foot forward.”
RBC Future Launch is a 10-year, $500 million commitment to empower Canadian youth for the jobs of tomorrow. With a focus on networking, skills development, practical work experience and mental wellbeing supports and services, the initiative aims to help break down the barriers facing young people. In 2020, RBC committed to investing $50 million from now to 2025 through RBC Future Launch to create meaningful and transformative pathways to prosperity for up to 25,000 BIPOC youth with investments in areas such as skills development and mentoring.
Through the RBC Future Launch, RBC continues to be a strong supporter of post-secondary readiness and educational success for young people across Canada. The program provides youth with the confidence to achieve more in their education and career goals, and during these challenging times it is more important than ever to keep connected, motivated, and be empowered to achieve the brightest possible future.
