Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (BBBSC) is seeking a French Language Services Coordinator to provide in-house translation services (mainly English to French) and ensure the quality of French content through translation, transcreation, translation revision and copyediting. This individual serves the National Office to provide translations for internally requested content, as well as revisions to external translations. They help maintain consistent linguistic standards in both official languages across all publications, as well as during meetings and special events (virtual). This position ensures that French speaking colleagues can participate and contribute to the work of the BBBS federation.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
This is a 1 FTE (35 hours per week) position that reports to the Vice President, Fund Development & Marketing. As our French Language Services Coordinator, you will be responsible to:
- Translate a wide range of documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) in administrative, technical, financial, social services, and marketing fields, primarily from English to French, and occasionally from French to English, while delivering high-quality translations for complex or high-visibility texts.
- Ensure that translated texts accurately reflect the original meaning, context, and tone.
- Conduct research as needed to understand specialized terminology, concepts and brand lexicon.
- Copyedit and perform quality control of French-language content, including original texts drafted internally as well as translations produced both in-house and by external suppliers, by comparing them with the source texts to ensure the highest quality.
- Collaborate closely with your supervisor and internal colleagues to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Act as an advisor to members of the communications team and internal clients; provide linguistic advice on language usage and field-specific vocabulary.
- Support the team’s terminology work by helping enrich terminology databases (lexicon) and ensuring high-quality content.
- Participate in small group phone calls to support French-speaking members.
- Use technological tools such as Microsoft Teams and other collaboration platforms for disseminating content and hosting bilingual virtual meetings.
- Coordinate translation workflow and project tracking, keeping clients informed of the status of their projects.
- Liaise with external translation supplier for technical projects and overflow assignments.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning.

Education, Experience and Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in translation, linguistics or multilingual communication.
- 3 to 5 years of translation and editing experience, preferably in not-for-profit, social services, or industry association with a pan-Canadian organisation. Specific experience supporting Quebec French an asset.
- Certification or member or accredited through the Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC), or the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ)
- Candidates must be fluently bilingual in both English and French at the time of application. This position requires advanced proficiency in both spoken and written English and French (Canada, Quebec). Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate this fluency during the recruitment process.
