It is with a very heavy heart we report the loss of a Little Brother and a soon-to-be Big Brother in the tragic bus accident in Humboldt, Saskatchewan on Friday, April 6.
Brody Hinz
Brody Hinz was a Little Brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Humboldt and was closely known by several members of staff and youth nationwide through his participation in national events as well as the local program.
Brody travelled with the Humboldt Broncos as a statistician and a life-long hockey fan. Brody knew more about hockey and baseball by the time he was a little boy than most of us will ever know, and he dreamed of being a General Manager one day.
The world lost a great dreamer and a beautiful person when we lost Brody, and our condolences go out to his mother and sister and all those who were inspired by him.
Big Brothers Big Sisters was proud to serve as part of the honour guard for Brody’s funeral on Saturday, April 14. Thank you to Print Geek for donating the Big Brothers Big Sisters shirts.
Tyler Bieber
Also lost that fateful night was mentor-to-be, Tyler Bieber, Bolt FM personality and play-by-play broadcaster for the Humboldt Broncos.
Tyler indicated interest in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in December 2017 and was accepted as a mentor in the Game On program. He was awaiting the start of the next program cycle to begin mentoring Big Brothers Big Sisters youth in his community.
Tyler loved to volunteer and was very involved in sports in the Humboldt community. He was a very kind and giving man who believed in giving back. He loved spending time with youth, and staff at Big Brothers Big Sisters Humboldt are confident “he would have rocked” as a mentor.
