Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (BBBSC) is seeking a National Coordinator, Network Projects & Partnerships to support national projects and fulfill funder expectations. The role will assume responsibility for the day-to-day execution of national projects in accordance with organizational goals, contractual requirements, best practices and our National Theory of Change. They will also help to identify program and service gaps, as well as support cross team coordination for effective implementation of national projects.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada enables life-changing mentorship relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people. With 90+ member agencies serving more than 1,100 communities across Canada, each year we help about 32,000 young people access the transformative benefits of mentoring relationships with caring, trained volunteers. Our national organization provides services and programs to our membership agencies to assist them in their work with parents, caregivers, school communities, mentees, and volunteers.

Our staff and volunteers support diverse young Canadians by providing a safe passage through childhood. We help children overcome adversities and provide opportunities for them to grow and thrive as young adults.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING IN THIS ROLE?

As the National Coordinator, Network Projects & Partnerships, you play an important role in supporting the growth of the Network and the acceleration of our Mission, Vision, Brand and National Theory of Change. This position aims to:

  • Cultivate our commitment to evidence-based, national projects and initiatives.
  • Leverage local BBBS talent to bring high quality resources, services, and programs to scale.
  • Work with national sector partners or experts to strengthen our resources and maximize core funding partner investments.
  • Empower BBBS agencies to meet strategic objectives and fulfill national funding obligations.
  • Position BBBSC for funding renewal, without compromising BBBS’s Mission, Vision, and National Theory of Change.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Facilitate the alignment of national projects and initiatives to the National Theory of Change and funder expectations
    1. Build and maintain relationships with agencies approved as pilot, project and/or initiative sites (project sites).
    2. Communicate federation priorities to agencies to facilitate understanding of the projects and initiatives.
    3. Monitor projects to ensure agency execution of projects and initiatives are in alignment with the funder’s aims and the National Theory of Change.
    4. Communicate agency project and initiative experiences to the BBBSC Team providing insights into how these experiences could influence current and future funding, training, and national opportunities.
    5. Guide and coach agencies as needed.
  2. Satisfy funder expectations
    1. Support the ongoing relationships with project funders and partners.
    2. Implement and maintain workplans and timelines to meet funder expectations.
    3. Attend and/or facilitate progress meetings with funders.
    4. Ensure understanding and compliance with funder agreements and objectives, including reporting requirements, project evaluation, targets, and partnership activation requirements to position BBBSC for potential funding renewal.
    5. Facilitate reporting processes, working closely with project sites, committees, the BBBSC Team, and/or external consultants to gather reporting requirements.
    6. Draft funder reports.
    7. Communicate funder expectations to project sites to ensure they are adequately prepared to fulfill those expectations.
    8. Liaise with other team members to promote the partnership and funding outcomes.
    9. Support funder recognition and stewardship activities by BBBSC and local agencies.
  3. Satisfy BBBS Network expectations
    1. Design meeting agendas, coordinate guest speakers, learning opportunities and ways to spark collaboration across project sites.
    2. Organize and attend meetings with project sites to gather insight and knowledge of BBBS programs.
    3. Provide briefing notes, presentation and call materials as required.
    4. Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
  4. Contribute to initiatives that accelerate strategic goals
    1. Assist in supporting Network-wide engagement opportunities.
    2. Contribute to both internal and external communications that share progress of applicable national initiatives.
    3. Maintain internal processes for tracking MoUs, partnership agreements and any associated payments.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

In addition to being a team player, quick learner, and an analytical thinker the successful candidate will have the following Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ project coordination experience.
  • Post-secondary education (or equivalent experience) in social sciences, project management, communication, social work or other related program of study.
  • Experience working within the child and youth social service sector, preferably in a federated model.
  • Understanding of youth development research and best practices in the field of mentoring.
  • Experience coordinating multi-dimensional projects, overseeing workplans and budgets.
  • Acute attention to detail and prioritization skills.
  • Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Solid computer skills in a PC environment with working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong writing skills with experience writing project reports.
  • Effective communication skills with a variety of external and internal stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of evaluation and commitment to tracking key project outcomes.
  • Experience with survey design and qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
